Terms of Use

1. The service

ARISE helps you schedule morning alarms that invite you to pray before you scroll. Features may include local alarms, on-device speech detection to confirm a prayer, journal and streak tracking, and optional daily Bible verses. Access to the App requires an active subscription or free trial as described in Section 7.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice when practicable. Some features require device permissions (notifications, microphone) that you control in system Settings.

2. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction and meet the minimum age required by the App Store or Google Play in your region. If you use ARISE on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

3. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and the app store rules that apply to you.

You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer (except to the extent allowed by law), rent, or redistribute the App, or use it to build a competing product using our non-public materials.

4. Your content and conduct

You are responsible for journal entries, prayers, and other content you create. Journal entries, reflections, and written prayers stay on your device and are not synced to a central ARISE server unless you choose to share them through the OS share sheet or another tool you select.

Do not use ARISE to harass, break the law, interfere with alarms or notifications of others, attempt to probe our systems, or upload malware. We may refuse support or terminate access for misuse.

5. Spiritual content disclaimer

ARISE offers tools and optional Scripture text to support a prayer habit. It is not a church, pastoral counseling service, medical device, or crisis hotline. If you are in distress or in danger, contact local emergency services or a trusted person immediately.

We utilize public, third-party content delivery networks and open-source application programming interfaces (APIs) to securely fetch and display scripture text within the App. We do not send any of your personal information with those requests. Scripture may also come from text bundled in the App and may not match a particular translation you prefer. Always verify important references with a trusted Bible edition.

6. Alarms and reliability

Alarm delivery depends on your device, OS battery optimizations, Focus / Do Not Disturb settings, notification permissions, and manufacturer policies. You are responsible for granting required permissions and testing that alarms work on your hardware.

ARISE is not a substitute for a medical alarm, medication reminder, or life-safety system.

7. Subscriptions and billing

ARISE is a subscription app. You cannot continue using the App without starting a free trial or purchasing a subscription. There is no unpaid full-access tier after a trial ends. Prices, trial length (for example a 3-day free trial), and packages (such as weekly or annual) are shown in the App and confirmed by Apple or Google at purchase.

If you start a free trial and do not cancel before it ends, you will be charged the annual subscription fee. Cancel anytime during the trial in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings to avoid being charged.

Payment is charged to your Apple App Store or Google Play account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period in your store account settings. Managing, cancelling, or requesting refunds is handled by Apple or Google under their rules.

If we offer a free trial, unused trial time may be forfeited when you purchase a subscription, as disclosed at checkout.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy at https://arise-88dd8.web.app/privacy explains how information is handled, including on-device microphone metering and local storage. By using the App, you also acknowledge that Policy.

9. Third-party services

The App may utilize public, third-party content delivery networks and open-source application programming interfaces (APIs) to securely fetch and display scripture text. We do not send any of your personal information with those requests. The App also relies on Apple, Google, and other service providers that manage subscriptions, analyze app usage, and display monetization screens. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party outages or content errors.

10. Intellectual property

ARISE name, branding, UI, and original content are owned by us or our licensors. Scripture text belongs to its respective rights holders. These Terms do not transfer ownership of any IP to you.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ALARMS WILL ALWAYS FIRE, THAT VERSES WILL BE ERROR-FREE, OR THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR BUG-FREE.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $25.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the App, your content, or your violation of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

14. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time and delete it. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the App. Sections that by nature should survive (including license restrictions, disclaimers, and limitations) will survive termination.

15. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms by posting a new version at https://arise-88dd8.web.app/terms and updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance, except where applicable law requires additional notice or consent.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence provide otherwise. Courts located in North Carolina will have venue for disputes that are not subject to a mandatory consumer forum.
